We bought this - well, I searched for it my friend paid for it, we got to keep it - after loving 'we're off to look for Aliens' by the same author-illustrator. It was for my little boy's 4th birthday - he chose it from pictures inside the cover of 'we're off...'. And even though my friend is in her seventies she loves a book that deals with things we aren't really supposed to talk about. It is a lovely book. And my boy, who had gone backwards recently has been a little bit more consistent at getting to the loo or the potty and a little bit less rude outside of periods of allowed playfulness. If you like this, another series by another author you might like is the 'Dirty Bertie' series, which covers a variety of less-than-savoury themes with 'delicious' good humour. But no dinosaurs I'm afraid. This one wins on that score.
The only slightly negative point is the mild stereo-typing that the mum and dad are a bit odd and blobby and the teacher just a willowy long neck and slim face saying '...in his own good time!' and then getting cross too. The grandma is very realistic- poor grandmasaurus steps in poo though! And when Grandma and Littlesaurus makes Daddysaurus mad well, it is fiction! It is more a remedy to prompt re-balance after you've got cross and said 'I don't care...!' rather than recommendation of a good strategy.
