- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 March 2013I can now solve quite a range of Sudoku puzzles. Easy reading. Good advise and step by step guide. I never thought that I could do it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 January 2006If you are a newcomer to Sudoku, this book may be of help, but if you have already completed several puzzles, you will probably have learnt most of what this book is about. I started with the Carol Vorderman book 'How to Do Sudoku' which goes over exactly the same techniques with the advantage of also having 200 puzzles to try. I bought 'How to solve Sudoku' by Robin Wilson, hoping to learn more techniques but there were no more than in the other book. If you only buy one book, stick to Vorderman's. Its better value because of the 200 puzzles.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 March 2014For me it was irritatingly pedantic. I learnt nothing new and nothing I had not worked out for myself. Perhaps it would suit juveniles - though even those enjoy the challenge of working things out for themselves.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 February 2013At last, I can solve Sudoku! Great book, clearly explained - I am no longer afraid of Sudoku, but addicted.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 April 2017No problems with the service, can thoroughly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 June 2015I was expecting it to cover some of the more advanced solving techniques, but it doesn't.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 April 2013Prompt delivery and very helpful although for seasoned Dudoku solvers like us we skipped the first basic chapters and found the rest helpful
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 October 2013Wasn't quite what expected. I thought the information to solve the more difficult puzzles was not help enough. Easy and Medium ones OK.

2.0 out of 5 stars Vielleicht für Kinder

3.0 out of 5 stars No "brilliant ideas", but reasonably priced for such a short and cheap content
PROS
- cheap and convenient price, just below $4 for the Kindle edition.
- good enough if you're really a beginner or just want to see someone else's perspective in solving Sudoku, for a reasonable price.
- 4-5 easy to medium annotated games over several chapters, each followed by 5-6 puzzles offered as practice (with simple final solutions).
- presented solving a same puzzle from different perspectives.
CONS
- unfortunate misleading "(52 Brilliant Ideas)" suffix added to the title, when these are rather (very) small chapters in the book. As an example, "brilliant idea" #44 looks like this: "44. The completed grid. The finished puzzle looks like this." followed by a full solution grid image (discussed in the previous ...hmm... "idea"), with nothing else :)
- just for beginners and very small.
- few chapters(/"ideas") wasted on too basic info about Sudoku history, Sudoku on computers, Sudoku variations, Latin squares and other less meaningful information in the context, given you find all this (and way more) for free on Wikipedia and other Sudoku websites. They actually looked like simply copied from Wikipedia...
- not enough explanation on some "moves". Too many "and now the remaining 1 must be in cell Bb", "the remaining 8s must be in cell Ai" etc. Why commenting a game if you state so much the obvious?

5.0 out of 5 stars What I Needed
I have been doing Sudoku compulsively for a couple months with two other books. I thought I would be pretty good until I got to X-Wing and Swordfish. I went through this entire book in two days and loved it. It does something none of the other books do. It teaches the basics of logic and takes you through every step so that you can make sure you understand it. If you are a beginner get this book first and don't even look at anything else. If you are stuck at finding hidden triples, X-wings, and Swordfish get this book. This book restores my belief that Sudoku is a logic puzzle and not just some braniacs trying to prove how brilliant they are. Skip the fancy stuff and have fun and after some therapy with this book, go back to the fancy stuff.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hard to Follow
I never like giving negative reviews but the author is on YouTube and wrote this book. He is a mathematician and a professor. His very basic sample sudokus are easy to follow. However, everything goes down hill from there. He creates the samples that “he” knows how to solve. That is not helpful at all for the sudoku book that I purchased on Amazon, which goes from easy to challenging. You cannot take solving his puzzle and compare it with any other when you are first learning. Every puzzle has unique challenges so some of his preliminary tips are useful but that’s it. Either you are innately logical or are good at math to move forward. I donated the book.
