The CD was good although I didn't realise there was only one Jamie culum track the rest were orogonals not covers done by Jamie as I thought

If you like Jamie Cullum's music then be surprised by some of the awful music on this disc. Jamie's 2 tracks are probably the weakest of any of his - interesting 1st listen but not worth repeating. The rest of the songs are a strange mix - too broad in music styles to make an interesting collection (unless for some reason you really do want to get "into the mind of Jamie"). To my ear some of the selected tracks are just awful.

Better wait and get his next CD.

I enjoyed this for Jamie's song as well as finding some new ideas to freshen me musical sense of taste.

Not a Jamie Cullum album at all, just a compilation he has out his name to. Misleading and disappointing, don't like any of the tracks. Waste of money.

Let's get one thing clear. I DESPISE Jamie Cullum, famous for his watered down 'jazz' covers of Radiohead and Hendrix for forty-somethings. When I saw this album in the shops, I rolled my eyes at what I thought was his latest studio effort, yet on closer inspection, was surprised to find it was actually a compilation. A really chuffing good compilation. Supposedly this is 'inside the mind of Jamie Cullum', but how can these outstanding tracks have inspired him to write such mediocre music? From the likes of Herbie Hancock and Charles Mingus, through to Roni Size and The Bad Plus, this really is a choice selection of quality tracks. My personal favourite being the awesome Cinematic Orchestra, featuring Roots Manuva on 'All Things To All Men'.

I'm not really sure what Mr Cullum intended to achieve with this release. To open new audio avenues to his middle-age Jamie Cullum flag flyers? Or perhaps to prove to younger audiences that there's more to him than meets the ear? I don't know. I'm thoroughly confused. As much as it pains me, I salute you Jamie, this is a fine compilation, although you lose one star for including two of your own tracks.

I feel a bit out of order now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Was hört einer, der selbst Musik macht?
Reviewed in Germany on 12 August 2016

    DON'T BE FOOLED.....

I love the Jamie Cullum CD "The Pursuit" it is awesome and bought this CD "In the Mind Of Jamie Cullum" expecting the CD to be a Jamie Cullen CD.... IT IS NOT! Of the 12 tracks, only two are Jamie Cullen, and they are really not that good! Don't buy this CD, go and buy any of the others, which I did, and you won't be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Neccesarily for Pop-Jazz Genre Fans But Great
Reviewed in the United States on 14 October 2007
Off the bat if should be said that this is NOT a Jamie Cullum CD.

I mean this in that Jamie is not singing most of these songs and that Cullums songs are more of a pop-infused jazz and a lot of his influences are much different than that(lots of jazz).

This out of the way, this album is great for its purpose. The purpose of the album is to get into the mind of Jamie and where his influences came from.

This album accomplishes its purpose and furthermore, it has included probably now one of my favorite Jamie Cullum songs "I'd Probably Do It Again".

A good buy for any Jamie Cullum fan who wants an insight on where Jamie obtained his musical taste and talent.
