Product description

2009 debut solo album from the singer/songwriter. Hearing Kristina Train for the first time is nothing less than a revelation: her sunny, easygoing demeanor and youthful good looks belie the heart-wrenching power of her voice. Train's Blue Note debut, Spilt Milk, is urbane and soulful, lush in its arrangements but intimate in its emotions, built on a foundation of classic and deeply felt Southern Soul.

I recently fell for Kristina's voice and gorgeous arrangements when listening to 'Dream of Me' from her new album, Dark Black, but after having a quick listen to a couple of tracks from this first album knew that I had just had to get it; I have never been so excited to listen to a new CD. Despite the supplier taking 11 days to deliver this, I was not disappointed when I the music emanated from my hi-fi. This album has been played every evening - the tracks are gorgeous and rich and Kristina's voice is something I adore - so soulful and calm, yet rich with emotion of loves lost and loneliness. I've never been taken by a voice like this since I discovered Bonnie Raitt nearly thirty years ago; so it won't be long before I buy Kristina's latest release.

I think I'm in love, so biased I'm sure, but putting that to one side I saw KT on Jools Holland and thought 'pretty good'. Followed this up with Dark Black, the album, and kind of stalled. I'm sure it's a good album but it wasn't until I listened to Spilt Milk, that I finally got Georgia Soul. I struggled a little with the country sound, not being a great country fan, but the quality of musicianship and THAT voice, wow! I'm hooked.

I agree with Ian Johnston; this album isn't a patch on the follow up "Dark black". I get the impression on "Spilt milk" that they are trying to make the songs sound 'too black' and there is no need for that. She had a unique voice and not necessarily black sounding.
Was disappointed with this album. Something went very, very right by the time "Dark black" was released.

I purchased this CD for my parents for Christmas as we are unable to purchase anything of Kristina Train's in Australia. My parents were thrilled and have played the CD a number of times already. They're very happy with their gift and I'm very happy that I was able to make the purchase for them via Amazon. Thank you.

I bought this a couple of weeks after hearing her second album, Dark Black which is amazing. Spilt Milk, whilst still showcasing Train's stunning voice is a little mediocre in the quality of the songs. OK for completists and if you need more of her voice, but the songs whilst well performed are fairly forgettable.

Cut to the chase and buy Dark Black instead...a beautiful, fragile, haunting and unforgettable album.

Although released a few years ago, I bought this album having been somewhat impressed by her latest album DARK BLACK. I was not disappointed. Shades of Dusty and the Brill Building femme songs and some great lyrics here. Played this most days in the car en-route to work. Amongst an array of stand-out tracks, DON'T BEG FOR LOVE is superb!

    spilt Milk by Kristina Train
new artist for me, beautiful vocals, strong and clean. they are classified in the jazz category but i think more folk/country blues. reminds me of bonnie raitt vocally. music is excellent for her vocals, allows her to shine. this will not every ones favorite style but every one will agree she has talent. Every song on this album is good. check her out.

If you haven't listened to Spilt Milk, do so immediately. If you've listened and weren't impressed, listen again. If you thought her just like Norah Jones, tell the truth...you weren't really listening were you? Background music while blogging doesn't count and we both know it. 30 second previews don't count either.

She's not Norah Jones. She's not Norah Jones with a little soul thrown in; She's Aretha with a touch of Norah.

Kristina Train is a lullaby and a locomotive.

Talent like this comes along once in a generation. Opportunities to follow a star from the start of her career are even fewer.

I purchased the CD after reading Al Kooper's list of the 50 best songs of 2009. At the top of the list is Kristina Train's Spilt Milk. Not the song. The entire CD.

Al Kooper's recommendation was all the motivation I needed.

Kristina Train is the real deal and the release of Spilt Milk starts what will be a long and successful career of an enormously talented new recording artist. A few years back I first saw Kristina perform to overflowing audiences at the Savannah Music Festival. It was clear at that time that she had the potential to be the next great star of Blue Note records. The clarity and depth of her blues voice tied to her beauty and engaging personality make her the total package. My compliments to Blue Note for finding Kristina. Also thank you to everyone involved in producing this recording in London over the past two years. Most of all thanks to Kristina for the thousands of hours you have devoted to offer us this wonderful music.
